Position Description
Alafaya Woods Family Medical Center is currently hiring for a compassionate Physician Assistant or Advanced Nurse Practitioner. The ideal candidate is someone who passionately cares for providing high quality care to patients and enjoys the practice of medicine. Candidates should have three years of experience in Cardiology, Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine.
Under the direction of a physician, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients with acute and chronic illnesses, including major and complicated, and perform procedures such as joint injections, mole removal, skin tag removal and small cyst removal as well as provide preventative and therapeutic care.
Primary Functions & Accountabilities
- Performs physical examination, compiles medical data and records medical history and implements a treatment plan on new and established patients
- Orders appropriate diagnostic studies and labs when indicated
- Orders appropriate referrals to specialist as needed
- Instructs patients and families regarding treatment plan and medications
- Consults with physician when warranted to assess patient condition and treatment
- Ensures that medical charts and administrative paper work is completed in a timely manner
- Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits
- Provides follow-up care to patients according to practice guidelines
- Performs preoperative clearances
- Participates in the "on call" rotation
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to assess situations, resolve within scope of ability, or escalate as appropriate
- Ability to respond effectively to emergencies.
- Ability to follow instructions with little supervision
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor in all aspects of role
- Perform Joint injections (can teach qualified candidate)
- Perform womens wellness exams
- Knowledge of FMLA paperwork
Job Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program or Advanced Nursing Program is required
- Current Florida Licensure is required
- Must maintain CEU's in pertinent clinical practice according to licensure requirements
- BLS Certification must be maintained
- Preferred experience in patient care, primarily in Cardiology, Emergency or Primary Care setting.
- Must be local to the Oviedo area
- EMR experience (Athena preferred)
To adequately fill the requirements for this job, the candidate must be firm, confident, and persistent. Must be able to effectively and respectfully communicate between providers, clinical and management staff.
